Mater Education’s final part-time graduates spread their wings

Mater Education’s final part-time Diploma of Nursing cohort graduated in December, armed with the skills and knowledge to take on their next nursing adventure!

The graduates started studying with Mater Education in 2020 and have been diligently working toward their goal of becoming enrolled nurses ever since.  

Graduate Tania Potaka is excited to put her skills as a newly qualified enrolled nurse into practice.  

“I’m looking forward to delivering patient-centred care, holistically and with empathy.” 

Tania hopes to progress her career with her existing employer, Spinal Life Australia, before committing to further study with Australian Catholic University to become a registered nurse.  

“I have been accepted into ACU with direct entry to study a Bachelor of Nursing,” she said.  

Mater Education’s agreement with ACU allows ten graduates to gain direct entry to study a Bachelor of Nursing, bypassing the formal application process. 

“After three years of studying my Diploma, I plan on having a break before jumping into more study.” 

Fellow graduate Tara Jones also plans to continue her studies at university.  

“I’m going to go on to university to become a registered nurse,” Tara said.  

“My last placement really cemented that I want to continue. I’m really looking forward to it!” 

Both graduates credit Mater Education with their study success, praising the Diploma of Nursing educators. 

“It was awesome to learn from so many amazing educators with so much nursing experience,” Tania said.  

“The world is our oyster now!”
